Cultivation and commerce of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus)

The annual production of mushroom is estimated to be around 6.6 million tons out of which 1 million tons belong to oyster mushroom. Currently, there are 2500 small producers in Hungary, the 90 percent of the products is sold abroad.

Since 2006, we have been doing the production of fruits and vegetables and international spedition (with a 3,5-ton capacity refrigerator van) as a family enterprise.

We won a tender of the European Union, we have been working as an individual enterprise ever since.

Our main profile is the production of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) HK-35. This mushroom was breeded by Pál Gyurkó int he 20th century, and it is produced in plastic covered greenhouses, with the use of biologic breeding bags.

Main characteristics of the mushroom:
- high content of vitamin A, B, B2, and D
- reduces the level of cholesterol
- meat supplement
- it has beneficial effect for the digestive system
- it has beneficial effects for arthritism, muscle and nerve rigidity.

Oyster mushroom is produced by Hungarian, German, Dutch and Italian commercial farms, during the whole year, in good quality.

Oyster mushroom is very tasteful, is nearly related to chanterelle (Cantharellus cibarius) and white mushroom. It is also known as beef substitute.

Maximum range of transport: 2000 km out of Hungary.

Transportation of mushroom: three times per week.
